Chief Russell Bono of the Norristown Police department is starting a new campaign called "Stop the Violence Break the Silence" to urge community members to cooperate with police to help solve crimes. Conicelli Autoplex has donated the funds needed to produce hundreds of signs and magnets made up bearing the crime-fighting slogan."This is just a reminder that people have a civic duty to come forward. Time is a critical factor in developing leads in shootings and murders, but too often people with information that could aid in apprehending suspects keep quiet. It may come weeks or months after the fact." Bono said.
The new cooperation effort is not aimed at law breakers, but instead average citizens. Only with their help can police get dangerous criminals off neighborhood streets.
