In Japan, the Crown has been the top of the line Toyota sedan since 1955. In fact, the Crown was the first Toyota model sold in the U.S.! For 2023 it will be the first Crown model sold here since 1972.
Featuring Toyota's hybrid powertrains and standard all wheel drive, the Crown takes the traditional low-to-the-ground sedan and raises it for ease of entry and better visibility, without all of the bulk of a crossover.
The Crown will be available in XLE, Limited, and Platinum trims. The XLE and Limited feature front and rear electric motors with a 2.5 liter naturally aspirated engine for a total of 236 horsepower, while the Platinum trim pairs electric motors with a 2.4 liter turbo 4-cylinder engine for a massive 300 horsepower. The Platinum also gets 21 inch wheels, 6-speed automatic transmission, and adaptive suspension.
Set the Crown to Comfort mode and you get a premium, plush ride. Or choose Sport or Sport Plus and you'll be amazed at how capable the Crown is at carving through winding roads. And even with that level of performance, the Crown will get up to 41 MPG combined!
